You can ask the landlord or property manager to send over pictures of the apartment if they are not able to post a lot of pictures, such as on Craigslist.

If the landlord or property manager is not willing to send over pictures, this is a big red flag. They should be prepared that a potential tenant will want to take a look at the property ahead f time and if they are unwilling to show off the place, then this may mean that they are just trying to take your money and run.

Once you have a chance to look at some of the pictures and get a better idea of the space, it is time to jump in and take a tour. This will help you to know whether the apartment is legitimate because you will go to the physical address. Landlords are generally open to showing off the apartment and answering your questions about it along the way. If they are not willing to show off the apartment or discuss it, this is a bad sign.
